I am a London based documentary photographer available for assignments and commissions. I recently completed the MA Photojournalism & Documentary Photography course at the London College of Communication.
I come to photography via a circuitous route: having done my bachelors degree in mathematics I spent 15 years working as an actuary in pensions until I realised I needed to concentrate on photography which has been a passion since I was a child. I therefore have an unusual set of skills for a photographer, with a very methodical, logical and pragmatic approach to any project.
My personal work derives from my interest in our emotional health and how we can and should support each other, and therefore has focused on issues such as loneliness and those people who support those in emotional distress and with mental health issues.
I try to approach projects from a quiet, sensitive perspective and have experimented in using different audio and visual techniques to try and communicate ideas that are traditionally difficult to communicate visually.
