Homeostasis

Homeostasis - The property of a system in which a variable is actively regulated to remain nearly constant.

We humans measure the world in relation to ourselves. We apply our own definitions to what surrounds us and we categorise the world according to a given value. For us, plants are big or small. Nature can be good or bad, something to cherish or something in the way of maintaining our pre-decided standards of living.

But plants keep on growing. Nature keeps on fighting our unnatural concrete creations. Every occasion a building is abandoned it is reclaimed by nature. In every crack a plant rises. It is as if they are telling us something we chose not to hear. As if they are showing us their intrinsic value. Teaching us what should be. How the land should have remained.

Because in between our concrete, nature still flourishes, still fights. Big in importance, big in value, big in itself. As part of an ecosystem where all beings are interconnected to maintain the constant, working together to fight the variable, us. Whether we are listening or not.
